WHERE and WHAT

WHERE should initiatives take place, in which locations, at the heart of which communities? the city should offer itself to initiatives, initiatives should not be limited by the space already on offer. they should happen where they can benefit the community(ies) the most

WHAT should the content be? well, all the is deemed necessary and beneficial to the community. so any initiative that has potential in bridging between people, raising awareness, promoting proactiveness, or simply satisfying mental hunger for exposure, knowledge, creativity, and beauty.

Suggest potential SPACE and identify existing INITIATIVES that collectively can shift Dubai from a city of transient society to a city of grounded community.

Dubai Puzzle

so we’re talking scales, we’re asking who’s in and why are people out. this is the offer:
a Dubai Puzzle concept where each of us can approach a bit of Dubai the way they envision contributing to it (documenting, designing, community work, comprehension of legal system…) slowly, we may see that some puzzle pieces are more alive than others and the other pieces will learn from that piece, and very slowly, the larger puzzle is brought to its potential, as everyone who contributed to the process sees it. what’d ya think?

Continuing the Conversation: Dubai as Platform

Please register and post comments to this post to add your ideas and continue the conversation about the Dubai as Platform Project.

The first meeting on February 7th set a short and long term plan of action to enhance the quality of living in Dubai. Real estate developers have done their job, and it is now the role of other disciplines (designers, service providers, lawyers, artists, architects, social workers, storytellers,…) to raise awareness as to the wide range of possibilities in the urban and social context. The proposal is to channel various resources, tools, people, and initiatives under the umbrella of a cohesive vision and to densify the efforts in certain urban areas in order not to dilute the so far dispersed energies you are each contributing with.
